I am a native of County Roscommon and have been living in Dublin for over 12 years. I am married with three young children, two girls and a boy.
My interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine began in the early 1990’s when I underwent a course of acupuncture treatments for a medical condition. Following my successful treatment and some further research, I made the decision to train as a Medical Acupuncturist.
I studied at the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland which is affiliated to the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a World Health Organisation (WHO) collaborating centre and one of China’s Top five traditional Chinese Medicine teaching Universities.
My course of study involved a minimum of three years training in the theory, practice and clinical aspects of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. The three years also involved the study of western medical sciences including pathology, anatomy and physiology. In 1995 I received my qualification and licence to practice.
I have travelled to China and undertaken post graduate training in Nanjing University’s International Acupuncture Training Centre, obtaining a further Certificate in Clinical Acupuncture. During my time in China I undertook clinical work at the Nanjing Municipal Hospital.
